Sound Project
What I learned
In the lessons on sound techniques, I learned that all the sound is integrated during the editing process of a production. Techniques like Foley were new to me, and I was impressed by how basic daily objects can be used to make sounds.
Sound project #1 was instructed to be based completely on sound, no video or dialogue (only a maximum of 7 words). The idea was to convey the story through sound.
- We approached this project by sharing our ideas. We needed a scene where it's usually loud, so we decided to set it in a school cafeteria during lunch. The bell just rang, and a student is going to lunch, but when they get to the cafeteria, there is a fight. This person only wants to relax and forget about the stress of school, so they put on their headphones and isolate themselves from the rest of the world.
- Our outline helped us organize the sound effects we had to find which ones to layer and the order of them when editing. The editing platform we used was Clipchamp
- I think we could have improved on the idea of the project; it might have been a little boring, and also, I think the walking sound effect should have been a little louder at the beginning.
Sound project #4 was editing the sound of the previous project, OWF. This time, we worked on our own, and I chose the sounds based on what I would imagine the scene sounded like.
-For brainstorming, I did the same thing, creating an outline of the order of sounds to use later in editing. One technique I used was a sound motif for every moment the main subject saw the ticket.
I used Clipchamp again. I think I could have improved the variety of sounds; maybe I should have layered more background sound effects.
